Tyrant's Realm is a free action game developed by indie developer Tora Group. It features Souls-like gameplay but with a retro 3D look. The game features a collection of different elements—including melee combat, collecting weapons and armor, and some exploration. It features two full stages and a final boss stage that you need to complete.

You can download and play Tyrant's Realm for free—although as with other indie games, donations are welcome to fund further updates. However, despite being a full PC game, it is has a short run time that lasts only for about 15 - 30 minutes.

Explore and beat the boss

Tyrant's Realm will have players explore an old-looking dungeon. Your goal is to free your comrades imprisoned throughout the dungeon. However, that is easier said than done since there will be various enemies ready to attack you. To help you, there will be lots of weapons, armor, and items available. You can also equip your character with these items and switch between two primary weapons.

Tyrant's Realm is set from a third-person point of view. With this, you will have a wide visual of your surroundings. The game has support for the keyboard and mouse. However, using a controller is highly recommended for easier navigation. As you play, you will get instructions as to what to do next. The game even gives you hints of items that are available in your current location.

As mentioned, the game has a short run time and you can finish it in less than an hour—that is, if you manage to beat the final boss. The standard enemies are okay, and you can beat them easily unless they gang up on you. However, the boss is of a different league. He moves a little too fast, making it hard for you to deal a fatal blow. 

Would love a full game

Overall, Tyrant's Realm is a title worth picking up if you are into dark fantasy games. It comes with familiar gameplay of dungeon exploration and melee combat, so it should be easy to play. Not only that, but its retro aesthetic will remind you of old N64 and PS1 games. However, it is rather short. With its enjoyable gameplay, a full version of this game is welcome.
